Remove Glitter Nail Polish With Ease

Glitter nail polish can be truly fun and trendy to wear but they can be too tricky to remove. Because glitters adhere firmly onto the nails, they are complicated to remove compared to regular nail polish. Special care and a considerable amount of patient are necessary to rub off the glitter on your nails. It’s indeed difficult to get the glam off; but we have found some tips to help you remove glitter nail polish with ease.

Here’s what you will need:

Nail polish remover

Large Cotton balls

Nail oil or nail moisturizer

Extensive patience

The following is a step by step guide on how to remove glitter nail polish:

  1. Thoroughly soak a cotton ball with nail polish remover. Cotton balls are better than smooth makeup pads as the cotton balls cling better to the grains of glitter. Similarly, acetone-based nail polish removers tend to work better than non-acetone ones. Since this is the hard-to-remove glitter nail polish, you may opt to choose the harsher acetone-based nail polish remover. Pure acetone may also do the trick.
  2. Gently press the cotton ball on the nail and make sure that you cover the entire nail, from the cuticle to the tip. Keep the soaked cotton pressed firmly on your nail and wait for 30 seconds or count up to 20.
  3. After 30 seconds, slide the cotton ball of the edge of the nail slowly. The glitter should have adhered to the cotton ball. Just wipe any glitter left gently but firmly.
  4. Repeat the process with a new cotton ball for each fingernail.
  5. When done, wash your hands and nails thoroughly to remove stray bits of glitter and the acetone.
  6. Use a nail moisturizer afterwards. Acetone-based nail polish removers and pure acetones can be very drying to your nails. Moisturizing oils such as jojoba oil or commercial nail oils can help keep your nails healthy after being subjected to a harsh chemical such as acetone.

Remember, although acetone-based nail polish remover is good at removing glitter nail polish, they can be really harmful to your nails because of high chemical content. Therefore, you may consider limiting the application of glitter nail polish so you can also limit the use of acetone nail polish remover.

Although glitters in chunky type are really non-porous, never try to ever scrape them off your nails as it can harm your precious digits. Scraping polish makes the nails more prone to flaking.

You might want to prepare half a bag of cotton balls as glitters can be really hard to remove. Or you may consider substituting the cotton balls with a white felt. Craft felt does not shred like a cotton ball. But make sure that you use the white one as the colored felt can rub off its color on your nails and skin.

Now that you know how to remove them properly and easily, there’s no reason for you not to wear them. Go ahead and be not afraid to go glam with your nails.
